What is Obesity?
Obesity is a condition where excess body fat accumulates to an extent that it negatively impacts health. It is generally measured using the Body Mass Index (BMI). A person is considered obese when their BMI is 30 or above. Obesity increases the risk of various chronic illnesses like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and even some cancers. It affects not just physical health but also emotional well-being. With proper diagnosis and medical help, obesity can be managed through lifestyle changes, dietary modifications, and sometimes medications or surgery.
