What is Cystic Fibrosis?
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease that impacts the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. The disease causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the body, leading to severe respiratory and digestive problems. CF affects the body’s ability to regulate salt and water transport in and out of cells, which leads to respiratory distress, lung infections, and difficulty in absorbing nutrients from food.
