What is Laryngitis?
Laryngitis is a condition where the larynx (voice box) becomes inflamed due to infection, overuse, or irritants like smoke or allergens. This inflammation affects the vocal cords, causing voice changes such as hoarseness or complete voice loss. It may be acute, lasting for a few days, or chronic if symptoms persist for more than three weeks. Laryngitis is commonly associated with respiratory infections or vocal strain. While often temporary, timely medical attention ensures it doesn’t lead to complications.
