What is Sebaceous Cyst?
A sebaceous cyst is a non-cancerous, slow-growing lump formed when the sebaceous gland becomes blocked. These cysts contain keratin and oily material, often appearing on the face, scalp, neck, or torso. They may remain painless but can become infected, swollen, or tender. Removal becomes necessary when the cyst grows, causes discomfort, or shows signs of inflammation or infection.
